This medication is an intestinal anti-inflammatory. It reduces inflammation in the intestine. It is used to treat flare-ups or to prevent relapses in cases of :
• Ulcerative colitis (inflammation of the rectum and large intestine causing bloody diarrhea),
• Crohn’s disease (inflammation of the intestine causing frequent diarrhea and severe abdominal pain).
